Improvement Managers showcase Birmingham work at The Academy of Fabulous NHS Stuff
Newly recruited Improvement Managers Abi Byrchmore and Charlotte Gordon spread the message about the exciting work happening in Birmingham at an Academy of Fabulous NHS stuff event in London.
Abi and Charlotte spoke enthusiastically about the Older Adults Early Intervention work stream forging new ground by bringing health and social care professionals together to design care around local people.
The workstream forms one part of the Birmingham Older People’s Programme which aims to make Birmingham a great place to grow old. The vision is for older people to be as happy and healthy as possible, living self-sufficient, independent lives, able to have choice and control over what they do and what happens to them.
Abi, a clinical lead for physiotherapy from Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, and Charlotte, a social work senior practitioner from Birmingham City Council, are just two of a team of Improvement Managers who have been seconded from the city’s health and social care organisations to work on achieving this vision. They are working across organisational boundaries to improve short-term care for older people when they have a crisis, with the ultimate aim of helping people remain in their homes wherever possible.
