New interim system leader for Birmingham and Solihull
Paul Jennings, chief executive of the Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), has been selected as the interim lead for the Birmingham and Solihull Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP).
Mr Jennings takes over from University Hospitals Birmingham CEO Dame Julie Moore, who has retired.
Mr Jennings is well-known in the region’s health and social care system and has worked in a number of leadership roles in the West Midlands over a career spanning four decades.
He oversaw the successful merger of Birmingham CrossCity, Birmingham South Central and Solihull CCGs.
Mr Jennings was nominated for the role during a meeting of the STP Board in August 2018; the appointment is awaiting approval from NHS Improvement and NHS England. Mr Jennings said:
As a proud Brummie, being nominated as system leader for the Birmingham and Solihull [STP] really means a lot. There is now a process with NHS England and NHS Improvement to formally approve my nomination; we await their response in due course.
